CLAYTON HANDY

Regenerative Land Advisor | Specialty Crops • Cropping • Livestock

Clayton Handy is a regenerative agriculture advisor and soil health agronomist with nearly two decades of hands-on experience across large-scale crop operations and his own regenerative organic orchard and livestock farm. His background spans agronomy, horticulture, and forestry, giving him a practical understanding of the economic and agronomic realities farmers face every day.

He specializes in perennial and specialty cropping systems, including orchards, vineyards, berries, and specialty row crops, alongside integrated livestock systems. Clayton has guided numerous growers through the transition from conventional to regenerative organic practices, focusing on practical, results-driven implementation.

His work includes developing phenological execution plans, root exudate mimic programs, and biological strategies to support soil regeneration, nutrient density, and yield stability. Grounded in the principle of “test, not guess,” Clayton combines field observation with advanced tools such as sap analysis, soil biology testing, and nutrient density assessments.

At the core of his approach is mimicking natural ecosystems, recognizing that context matters and that different landscapes require different management strategies. By aligning fertility, irrigation, and groundcover systems with plant and microbial function, he helps growers reduce input dependency while improving resilience and profitability.

Based in Northern California, Clayton works with farms across the United States and internationally, while also managing his family farm with his wife and six children.
