ALEJANDRO CARRILLO

Regenerative Land Advisor

Alejandro Carrillo brings a wealth of experience to Libertas Land as a fourth-generation rancher and internationally recognized regenerative land advisor. He has worked across the American West, Australia, South America, the Middle East, and Mongolia, directly with ranchers, farmers, and land stewards on regenerative transition strategies and implementation.

Operating in one of the driest regions of North America, where annual rainfall averages less than 9 inches (230 mm) annually, Alejandro worked tirelessly to transform his family ranch, Las Damas Ranch, into a diversified and ecologically healthy operation that has become a globally recognized demonstration of regenerative ranching. Through adaptive grazing management and biological system design, the ranch supports approximately four times more cattle per acre than neighboring operations, increased water infiltration rates by over 800%, and reduced external inputs by roughly 80%.

Central to his work is training the next generation of land stewards, demonstrating what is possible by working with nature, and recognizing that land degradation is often driven more by management decisions than by climate alone.

He serves as a delegate to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and collaborates with conservation organizations focused on migratory bird ecosystems and landscape restoration. Las Damas Ranch has been featured in documentaries and research initiatives focused on regenerative agriculture, including Sacred Cow, Common Ground, and To Which We Belong.

Before transitioning full-time into ranch management and advisory work, Alejandro worked internationally as a software engineer and IT consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master of Science in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University.
